Summary

Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, would like nothing more than to be nothing alike。

Morgan is determined to prevent her daughter from making the same mistakes she did。 By getting pregnant and married way too young, Morgan put her own dreams on hold。 Clara doesn’t want to follow in her mother’s footsteps。 Her predictable mother doesn’t have a spontaneous bone in her body。

With warring personalities and conflicting goals, Morgan and Clara find it increasingly difficult to coexist。 The only person who can bring peace to the household is Chris—Morgan’s husband, Clara’s father, and the family anchor。 But that peace is shattered when Chris is involved in a tragic and questionable accident。 The heartbreaking and long-lasting consequences will reach far beyond just Morgan and Clara。

While struggling to rebuild everything that crashed around them, Morgan finds comfort in the last person she expects to, and Clara turns to the one boy she’s been forbidden to see。 With each passing day, new secrets, resentment, and misunderstandings make mother and daughter fall further apart。 So far apart, it might be impossible for them to ever fall back together。

From #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us comes a poignant novel about family, first love, grief, and betrayal that will touch the hearts of both mothers and daughters。

This was not the genre for me。 Happy I tried something different but it just didn’t click for me。

Couldn’t put this book down! Finished it in less than 48 hours and makes me want to read more books from Colleen Hoover。

This is the first book I’ve read by this author。 At the start I thought it was a good read but later felt it was dragged out and when the ending was obvious I just wanted to get there so I skim read the last 1/4。

Outstanding storyWow this has been a very emotional read。 The life and the loves of both Morgan and Clara, and their family。 They're such strong characters。 This has definitely got all the feels。 One of the best books I've read this year。 Outstanding storyWow this has been a very emotional read。 The life and the loves of both Morgan and Clara, and their family。 They're such strong characters。 This has definitely got all the feels。 One of the best books I've read this year。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This book was definitely super entertaining to read!! I'd give it a solid 3。5 stars。 The two sided narrative was really nice and I enjoyed that it was from the perspective of a mother and a daughter。 I think the idea of the story ws pretty good and Hoover's writing was pretty compelling。 It got some points off for predictability- which isn't a bad thing if it was executed a tad better。 Loved the classic bad boy trope with Miller and I was lowkey convinced he caused the accident (just because his This book was definitely super entertaining to read!!

Traditionally, I am not a romance lover, but after reading Verity and getting many Colleen Hoover recommendations, I wanted to try reading one of her more typical books。 The story gripped me in the beginning, but by the middle I was bored of all the teenage love stuff。 I enjoyed the adult love story more。 As I neared the end of the book and was beginning to consider my rating for the book I thought, it’s definitely not a five star-er for me。 😆😆😆 JOKES ON ME!! 2,5 😩Eu amei o começo, mas tenho quase certeza que foi por influência das vozes das narradoras, já que eu ouvi em audiobook e acompanhei pelo KU。Mas o livro foi passando e eu fui me cansando da linha de raciocínio dos personagens, e não rolou aquela Mágica da Colleen。 O próximo que vou ler dela é "é assim que acaba" e tenho certeza que será melhor 🙌 2,5 😩Eu amei o começo, mas tenho quase certeza que foi por influência das vozes das narradoras, já que eu ouvi em audiobook e acompanhei pelo KU。Mas o livro foi passando e eu fui me cansando da linha de raciocínio dos personagens, e não rolou aquela Mágica da Colleen。 O próximo que vou ler dela é "é assim que acaba" e tenho certeza que será melhor 🙌 。。。more

4⭐️/5An unusual genre for CoHo。Such a powerful story about mother-daughter relationship, how they have their haighs and lows and how they manage to overcome them in such a beautiful way!!The beginning is a bit slow and took me some time to really get into the story。 But then it was just amazing。 I loved to read about how they both grew and worked to overcome their obstacles。This book really teaches the value of family and how sometimes, life drags us through a heartbreaking event just so we can 4⭐️/5An unusual genre for CoHo。Such a powerful story about mother-daughter relationship, how they have their haighs and lows and how they manage to overcome them in such a beautiful way!!The beginning is a bit slow and took me some time to really get into the story。 But then it was just amazing。 I loved to read about how they both grew and worked to overcome their obstacles。This book really teaches the value of family and how sometimes, life drags us through a heartbreaking event just so we can find out what should've happened years ago。 。。。more

A must read I finished the book five minutes ago and I already miss the characters。 The best part about this book is the emotional connection you had with each character。 I could not put the book down and read it in about 24 hours。 It made me smile and laugh and cry。 It’s heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time。 Loved it

LovedAbsolutely amazing。 Such engrossing detail。 The entire novel takes you on a ride of sorrow, unrequited love, joy, frustration, confusion & then finally PEACE。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Damn。 I was really expecting some sort of plot twist to happen when Morgan finally read the letters。。 the fact that she didn’t even read them/we didn’t get any clues as to what they said was such a letdown!! I did enjoy the story overall though。

Was the story short or was it CoHo’s skillful seamless writing that made this book so hard to put down that I finished it in one sitting? I think it’s the latter。The plot was a bit messed up (unpopular I know), there are so many flaws that I can criticize or do not agree on; questions are still left unanswered。I hated how a mere circumstance led to a predictable routine/life for Morgan and the rest of her family just let it be that way including her daughter for 16 years。 I have much respect to Was the story short or was it CoHo’s skillful seamless writing that made this book so hard to put down that I finished it in one sitting? So far I have loved every Colleen Hoover book I have read。 One thing I love about her books is that I find myself thinking about the story after I finish reading。 I really enjoyed the character development throughout the story。 I would have liked a short chapter from Chris/jenny’s point of view。

I literally feel nothing right now。 Like when I normally finish a book I either go "damn, that was a good book" or "I hated that"。 But now I kinda feel like "meah, ok I guess I finished it"。I mean, I don't even know, like it wasn't a bad book, it kept me interested, but it wasn't a good one either。 I also had the feeling that the author didn't really know what genre to choose so she just combined all of them in a big mess。 The dialogue was so shallow and superficial compared to what was happenin I literally feel nothing right now。 Like when I normally finish a book I either go "damn, that was a good book" or "I hated that"。 But now I kinda feel like "meah, ok I guess I finished it"。I mean, I don't even know, like it wasn't a bad book, it kept me interested, but it wasn't a good one either。 I also had the feeling that the author didn't really know what genre to choose so she just combined all of them in a big mess。 The dialogue was so shallow and superficial compared to what was happening in the scenes sometimes。 The plot was kinda rushed, underdeveloped with a lot of unnecessary stuff that took up space。 There were two POV's and one of them was from a 16-year-old and gosh that just reminded me how much I hate high school books or movies at the moment。 I honestly didn't expect to feel like this after a Colleen Hoover book, but I guess there's always a first time for everything。 。。。more

The book started off interesting enough, but then it becomes more of a teeny soap opera than an intriguing exploration of betrayal。 It was just too much of a Young Adult story。 The daughter in this story really starts to annoy me。 I guess in that sense she is a typical 16 year old teenager who acts out。 Her boyfriend just acts like a 17 year old gone 45。 He is way too mature for his age and I find his behaviour not believable at all。 As for the mother: she may not have expected that her husband The book started off interesting enough, but then it becomes more of a teeny soap opera than an intriguing exploration of betrayal。 It was just too much of a Young Adult story。 The daughter in this story really starts to annoy me。 I guess in that sense she is a typical 16 year old teenager who acts out。 Her boyfriend just acts like a 17 year old gone 45。 He is way too mature for his age and I find his behaviour not believable at all。 As for the mother: she may not have expected that her husband is cheating on her, but what I find odd is that as a 34 year old with an almost grown-up daughter, she never considered to get a degree or a job。 What on earth was she doing all day? Overall, disappointed by the development of this story。 Just proves once again that one shouldn’t believe all the 5 star reviews。 。。。more

Honestly could not put this book down。 It was a beautiful story about a mother and daughter who both handled their grief in completely different ways which eventually brought them together。 I’ve never read a book quite like this one but I’ll be sure to check out more of Colleen Hoover’s stuff!
